This is part of a short series I’m writing on how I do my quiet time.
One thing that really helped me build a consistent quiet time with God was simple but powerful:
I put it on my calendar.
When you treat your time with God like a real appointment, it becomes something you protect…not just something you hope will happen.
If it’s not scheduled, it’s way too easy for other things to push it aside. Not because we don’t want to spend time with God, but because life gets busy and pulls on us from every direction.
For me, I don’t just mentally plan it. I actually block off the time on my calendar.
But here’s something that made it even more meaningful:
My wife had the idea to label her quiet time “Appointment with God,” and I thought that was brilliant.
Think about it…when you’ve got a meeting on the calendar with someone important, you don’t just casually blow it off.
You protect it and you show up.
It’s not just another task.
It’s a meeting with Someone who loves me.
If it matters to you, put it on the calendar.
God will certainly show up every time.
You don’t have to make it complicated.
Just honor the time and watch how God honors it too
David
