This Step Isn’t Complicated, But It IS Essential

This is part of the short series I’m writing on how I do my quiet time.

After I’ve spent some time in praise and worship (which I covered last week), I grab my Bible (yes, my actual physical Bible).

Nothing super structured or complicated… I just read.

Usually I’m working my way through a specific book of the Bible.

Sometimes I read a full chapter.

Other times, I just read a section – depending on how it’s broken up in my Bible or what I feel led to read.

I’m not trying to power through a reading plan or hit a quota.

I just want to spend some time hearing from God through His Word.

I’ll underline anything that stands out, and sometimes I’ll highlight a verse I want to come back to or remember later.

If I want to get a better understanding, I’ll usually read it in a few translations online. I’ll start with NLT, then check NKJV and NIV

Sometimes I’ll also look at the AMP or MSG to get different perspectives.

It’s not always some big “aha” moment… though sometimes it is.

But that doesn’t mean it’s not working something in me.

God’s Word is alive, and I trust that my mind is being renewed as I stay in it.

This isn’t about checking a box.

It’s about getting to know God better and learning His will through His Word.

It may not be complicated, but it is essential.

Don’t overthink it.

Sometimes keeping it simple but staying consistent is what works best… because according to Isaiah 55:11, God’s Word always accomplishes something.

See you next time and have a super week!

🙋‍♂️ Personal Life

My wife and I got to attend a friend’s surprise birthday party, celebrate her brother’s graduation (he just earned his master’s degree), and even squeeze in a little time at a coffee shop. It was a full weekend with lots of good conversations… and honestly, a great mix of celebration and connection.
