Hope you’ve had a wonderful few weeks with God in your quiet time! 😊
Today I’m continuing the series I’m writing on how I do my quiet time.
After journaling and writing out things I’m grateful for, I take a moment to get still and move into communing with the Creator and fellowship with the Father.
I feel like this is the most important part (though each part is important) of anyone’s quiet time.
And it’s probably what I enjoy the most.
The key component of this is… actually listening.
Honestly, this is one of the easiest parts to skip, for any number of reasons — we don’t understand it’s an important part of our spiritual walk, we don’t believe that we can hear from God (or think it’s difficult to hear), or maybe it’s just because we’re ready to move on with our day.
I’ll pray in the Spirit, and just ask God if there’s anything He wants to say to me.
Then I get quiet, no other distractions.
I close my eyes and picture being with Him. Whether it’s sitting with Jesus or just imagining His presence, I let that moment slow me down.
And then I just listen.
I keep my hands on the keyboard, and I’ll type out what I feel He’s saying to me. It’s not about crafting the perfect journal entry… it’s just recording what I sense He’s saying.
Often, it starts with something simple like, “David, I love you.” ❤️
Sometimes He reminds me of who I am. Other times, He gently brings up something I need to deal with. But no matter what, it’s always in love.
There’s never been a time when He hasn’t spoken to me.
I don’t try to rush this part. I just stay in it until I feel released to move on.
It doesn’t have to be complicated. Just make space and expect Him to speak.
And make sure to write it down or type it out… because it’s always good and worth remembering. ✍️
Hope your day is full of peace.
David

We enjoyed spending time with my oldest son and his wife celebrating Father’s Day and his early birthday. They got me a new game as a gift… looking forward to some fun family game time! 😁
