On one of our trips to Redding, it got stormy and windy one night. āļø
As I watched out the window, I noticed something. The trees were getting hit hard, and their leaves were all bending in the direction the wind was blowing.
Nothing unusual there…
But the next day, after the storm passed, I saw something interesting. Some trees had bounced right back, but others? Their leaves stayed curledāstuck in the shape the wind had forced them into.
And that got me thinkingā¦ offense does the same thing to us.
Someone says something, does something (maybe they donāt even mean it the way we take it), but the words hit like a strong wind.
Instead of letting it go, we get bent out of shape. And if weāre not careful, we stay that wayāstuck, brittle, and disconnected from growth.
But hereās the thing: God didnāt create you to be shaped by offense.
He created you to grow. To move forward. To keep reaching for Him and what He has for you instead of holding onto what someone else did or said.
A few things to think about:
- Offense can shape youābut only if you let it.
- Holding onto offense keeps you stuck, but letting go leads to growth.
- Some trees bounce back after the storm. Others donāt. Which one will you be?
Itās time to stop carrying whatās holding you back. Let it go. Reach for the sun (Son). Keep growing. š±

“People seem to take as much offence as they possibly can these days – it’s almost a new type of greed, a new kind of road rage.”
