How Did You Leave 2024?

Happy New Year! 🎉 

It’s 2025, and here we are with a fresh start. 

Some of us are excited about what’s ahead, while others might feel a little less enthusiastic.

Let me ask you something: Did 2024 leave a bad taste in your mouth?

Here’s a thought to consider: How you leave something is how you’ll enter into the next thing. I’m not sure if that’s an official quote, but I think it’s true.

If that’s the case, let’s be intentional about how we look back at 2024. 

It’s easy to say, “I’m glad that year’s over,” but what if we approached it differently? Instead of holding on to any frustration or disappointment, let’s reflect on the good.

So, what are five things you can be thankful for from 2024?

If you’re drawing a blank, ask the Holy Spirit to help you remember the blessings (big or small) that God brought into your life.

Sometimes we overlook the good because we’re focused on the challenges. And hey, even if 2024 wasn’t your best year, you made it through. If nothing else, you came out of it alive 😉

Here are five things I’m personally grateful for in 2024:

  • My oldest son got married to a sweet Christian woman, so we now have a new daughter-in-law!
  • I completed all but one of my Kingdom Coaching certification classes, launched The Limitless Life coaching business, and landed my first official client. (Okay, that’s technically three things, but I’m counting them together!)
  • My wife’s ministry, The Worship Life, expanded as we traveled the country. She spoke and led worship at several conferences, which was such a blessing to witness.
  • We got to enjoy a couple of vacations, including one in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. The scenery there was stunning!
  • I stayed consistent with this email newsletter and even published two YouTube videos. To be transparent, my goal was 12 videos, and I didn’t even come close. But I’m thankful for what I did accomplish. It shows me that through God’s grace, I can do even better in 2025 🙂

Looking back on these things helps me start this year with gratitude instead of regret. I hope it encourages you to do the same.

Take a moment to pause and reflect on the good that came out of last year. Write it down if you can. 

Gratitude has a way of shifting our perspective and setting the tone for what’s ahead.

Philippians 4:8 reminds us: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

Let’s think about those things as we move forward.
