Hope youāve had a fantastic few weeks. š
I took a little break from the newsletters lately because of our packed schedule.
Now, as we’re sitting on a flight back home from a conference in Denver, Iāve been thinking and praying about what to share with you today.
It became clearāI need to talk about what Iāve been learning lately.
Weāve had a lot going on thatās been out of our normal routine. Hereās a glimpse:
- Traveled to 2 different conferences where we had a booth, and my wife gave some incredible talks! And we still have one more conference to go.
- Extended one of our conference trips for a vacation at Disney World and Universal Studios (so much fun, but tiring! š°š¢).
- My youngest son came into town, and it was so great catching up with him! We hadnāt seen each other in a while, so it was really special.
- My parents came to stay with us for a bit, and it was really nice having them around. It gave us a chance to spend some quality time together.
- We also got to hang out with my cousins when they visited, which was a lot of fun. Itās always good to reconnect and catch up.
- And the grand finaleāmy oldest sonās wedding! šš It was such a beautiful and emotional day. Iām still soaking it all in!
All amazing stuff, but itās been a busy stretch!
Hereās the thingāwhen life is jam-packed with events and responsibilities, itās easy to get caught up in the busyness and forget to actually enjoy the moments while theyāre happening.
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
Ferris Bueller, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off“
This is something Iāve had to work on over the years. Historically my natural tendency has been to be thinking about the next step, the next task, the next thing to cross off my list.
But God has been reminding me, again and again, to āEnjoy the journey.ā
That doesnāt mean not planning or leaving everything to chance (not that I believe in chance).
But itās about smelling the roses along the way… cherishing time with family, noticing what God is doing around us, and being fully present.
We donāt want to look back and think, āWell, I got it all done, but did I even enjoy it while it was happening?ā
So, hereās my encouragement for you: Be fully present as you go through life. Be grateful for and enjoy the momentsāespecially when itās limited time with family and friends.šš
Hopefully, that gives you something to think about in the days ahead.
Enjoy the rest of your week and weekend! āØ
And remember…God is good, and life should be too!
David
