Am I going to get picked?

Yesterday I had “the pleasure” of being summoned for jury duty.

I showed up at 8:30, checked in, and joined the huge pool of potential jurors.

I’ll be honest, I was praying the whole time: “Don’t pick me.”

Not because I didn’t want to serve at all. I was thankful to do my civic duty. But after a not-so-fun past jury experience, I was hoping to avoid repeating it.

Eventually, my name got called for one of the jury panel groups. They handed me a number: 66 out of 70.

Hours later, the jury was chosen… and I wasn’t on it.

Relief. Gratitude. A quiet thank You, Lord as I walked out of the courthouse around 2 p.m. 🙌

Here’s the thing: I didn’t want to be there.
But I still showed up.
I still played my part.

What was interesting was that before dismissing us, the judge commented on how people in our county consistently show up – while some other counties struggle to get enough jurors.

So much of life is like that. Whether it’s work, family responsibilities, or even spiritual disciplines… you won’t always be “in the mood.”

Faithfulness doesn’t always feel exciting. It doesn’t always come with instant reward. Sometimes it’s just being present, doing your part, even when you don’t feel like it.

Galatians 6:9 puts it this way:

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Whether it’s civic duty, your calling, or your daily walk with God, showing up counts.

The small, unseen acts of faithfulness are often what prepare the ground for the bigger harvests later. 🌱

Do the thing. Be faithful in the small. Trust God with the rest.

Hope your week’s off to a good start. Keep showing up… you never know what God’s planting in those ordinary moments.

David

P.S. — Sometimes faithfulness means showing up on your own… and sometimes it means getting the support you need to take the step you already know God’s nudging you toward.
